Privacy
What we keep, and what we don't.
- Just browsing
- Showings, the Archive and the rest of the site work without an account, and there are no ads. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn't identify you: it shows us which pages get visited, the site you came from, your country, and the kind of device and browser.
- If you sign in
- Signing in is only for voting and rating films, and only Princeton Google accounts work. Google passes along your name, your Princeton email address and your profile picture. We use the email to know you're a student and to keep your picks together. A non-Princeton account is turned away and deleted on the spot.
- Your picks
- We keep your top 4, your head-to-head choices and your thumbs up or down, tied to your account so you can change them later. Other students only see totals: the leaderboard, and the percentages on the Archive. The committee members who run the site can see the data behind those totals.
- Cookies
- One, and only if you sign in: it keeps you signed in. Your light or dark setting is saved in your own browser and never sent to us.
- Who else is involved
- The site is hosted on Vercel, accounts and votes are stored with Supabase, sign-in goes through Google, and film details and images come from The Movie Database (TMDB). Each one handles what it needs to do that job, under its own privacy policy. We don't sell or share your information, and we only use it to plan what to show.
- Deleting it
- Message us on Instagram at @princetonusgmovie and we'll delete your account along with your picks and ratings.
